This image depicts a family of three during The Great Depression. They are an excellent example of this era in American history, and this is because of many reasons. First of all, they are located outside a shack, which is most likely their home. To poor to afford proper food and clothing, this family probably has enough wages to justify survival. The Great Depression was a time where money was at a loss, and prices for products went up. It engraved stress into the working bodies of everyday Americans. Also, it molded hunger into the figures of children and adults. By the mother holding her neck and gazing in the distance, this represents stress. In this image, the children are also holding their stomachs. This represents their longing for food. As well as their skinny legs and arms shows their hunger. This picture displays that not only did The Great Depression affect business and the working man, but influenced families, children, and home life as well.
